Monday Mini Herf

Great Monday mini herf at London’s famous Langan’s Brasserie at Stratton Street.
Very busy Monday night.. but no problem smoking cigars. :o ) it’s a great place to hang out.

Thanks much to our friends Rick and Abi Adams from Oakland who joined us while visiting London.
We had a great evening. Food was delicious, as always, the house red was so so, but the
Chilean Merlot was much better :o )

Hope to see you soon in our London office for Cuban rum and smokes guys :o )

Floridita

Floridita in Havana has to be the best place on earth for a Daiquiri….I remember some of the best afternoons of my life with friends in that timewarp bar :-) …a throwback to Hemmingway’s time. Sadly prices are almost at London levels for a cocktail.Hey ho …so much for communism !

I’m fairly certain the bar tenders have been there since the revolution (!) certainly the refrigerators have !

Floridita is of course in London’s Soho now and whilst not a carbon copy of the design of the Havana Floridita…the Daiquiris are damn good. So is the decor and service. In fact the food is excellent too and the ambience…well not bad if you have a table where you have a view of the stage where there is usually an excellent Cuban band.

Bravo for Floridita !….where smoking cigars is of course allowed at the tables.

There is also a La Casa del Habano upstairs that is well stocked and a cool cigar lounge with a Cuban roller rolling fresh cigars.

All this talk has made me thirsty…..I’m off to ask Karyn to make me a Daiquiri ! ;-) .goes very well with a Partagas P2 ( did I mention that was my fave cigar of the year?…more than 200 times this year …seriously great smokes!!!)

Have a lovely weekend folks.

Moss Nook restaurant

Just back from my field trip to my specialist cigars stores in Liverpool and Chester.

Flew from City airport ( very cool) to John Lennon airport ( not so cool!)

Had a splendid evening with friends Rodders and Mano over in Manchester at the Moss Nook award winning restaurant.

International cuisine, excellent wine list, service that I could not fault, comfortable surroundings and great ambience.

Most important, there were no objections to lighting up our Siglo VI’s after the meal.

So bravo for Moss Nook and if you are heading for Manchester it is well worth a visit..

Back to London office on Friday…Michelle is rather pleased with herself as she tells me she has sold out of the wonderful new Cohiba piramides 2006 within 24 hours of being told they would be available by Hunters and Frankau:-)

Hopefully more on the way soon:-)

La Casa del Habano- Hamburg

Congratulations to us!…we finally got the keys to our very own La Casa del Habano in Hamburg :-)

Hamburg is the second most affluent city in Europe after London and cigar friendly too…no major smoking bans on the horizon!

Located in the coolest part of Town our Casa is in Chilehaus and will feature a comfortable cigar lounge as well as cigar shop and walk in humidor with an enourmous selection of Havanas available by the box and in singles. There will also be regional editions ( Bolivar and Por Larannaga this year) and limited editions ( Trinidad book,Upmann and Partagas humidors) The shop will also display and offer a splendid range of Cuban cigar related antiques.

My dear friend Christoph Wolters will take care of the retail side of the business whilst I am heading up the internet sales team.

Christoph welcomes customers old and new and assures you a warm welcome with complimentary libations to enjoy with your cigar :-)

Full contact details will be on our “contacts page” in the next day or two.

La Casa del Habano is the exclusive franchise from Habanos S.A. and C.Gars Ltd are proud to be involved with both this venture and the Wolters family.

Auf Wiedersehen !

Cuban antiques

…good grief I have loads of them!

I’ve been buying pre embargo cigar humidors and cabinets of all different shapes and sizes for years!

My office is overflowing with them…looks like a Cuban cigar museum ( too cool I hear you say:-))

Ceramic jars ( yes blues and browns) glass jars ( yes yes I have the Benson one as well!) Bakelite jars ( these are the best of all..Ramon and Partagas) Tronquitas and barrels…they are all proudly on display.

Photographs of Che and Fidel ( smoking cigars of course) …all originals….post cards, price lists books and mags..loads of them:-)

Thanks goodness Christoph called today and asked me to send a consignment of antiques to the new La Casa del Habanos in Hamburg:-) Our shop in Hamburg is soooo big …I may even have to head back to Havana to bring back more antiques !

Michelle is so happy as I almost had her desk covered in pre embargo humidors! So shipping starts tomorrow and if you visit Hamburg from next week, the shop should have a nice Cuban feel to it….at last.

Well,I’m off on a field trip to visit my Turmeaus gold medal specialist in Havanas shops in Liverpool and Chester for a couple of days, looking forward to seeing some of my regular customers for a cigar or two.

If you need me I’m on email…back in London offices on Friday:-)
