The Last Gasp Movie!

The Last Gasp came about through an idea discussed over a Mojito in Cathedral Square, Havana in February this year. Jim Biddle and his family were on vacation with my wife and me and some other friends and we were talking about the ease of smoking in Cuba compared to the prospect of the ban coming into force in the UK. Click here to read the full story and watch the movie!  http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/document.php?id=thelastgasp.htm

Vive la France!

Took the squeezy jet to Paris for our annual Paris herf with the No More Scots Cigar Group last weekend πŸ™‚

As always we met at the cigar friendly bar at the Hotel Du Louvre for champagne on Friday afternoon accompanied by regional French edition Bolivar Libertadors and Juan Lopez Obus…both first rate Havanas.

Dinner at cigar friendly Cafe Ruc  ( 159 Rue Saint HonorΓ© Paris75001) accompanied with some splendid 1998 Pomerol and first ate Romeo short churchills.

Saturday evening we enjoyed dinner at Chateaubriand http://www.123cacher.com/en/kosher_restaurant/chateaubriand.html superb kosher restaurant where the owner very kindly allowed us to smoke our cigars:-)

After dinner we headed to the late show at the Crazy Horse http://www.lecrazyhorseparis.com/ ….has to be seen to be believed….fantastic show…but no smoking allowed )-:

Sunday we mooched round the antiques market smoking our P2’s and nobody batted an eyelid in fact we spotted quite a few cigars smokers.

Off to CDG airport for one final BBF in the outdoor smoking area…..vive la France !

……….and we won the rugby:-)…what a perfect weekend.

Thanks to my herf buddies Christoph, Zaff, Harvey, Craig, Gordon and Tillman for the excellent company and all the laughs:-)

Annual Paris Cigar Herf

This weekend is our annual Paris herf with a dozen or so of the No More Scots Cigar group making the annual pilgrimage to our favourite herfing City for the 9th year running.

I decided to zip over on Eurostar last weekend to have a herfette and make smoke dining arrangements. Good old Eurostar….2 hours 40 minutes First class on a carriage that looked like it needed an industrial clean, and this cost me Β£300 ! Needless to say I’ll be flying Easy Jet this weekend πŸ™‚

First class wining and dining is of course planned over 3 days whilst enjoying a rather obscene amount of Havanas. We will no doubt be timing Gordon on how fast he smokes a Cohiba robusto!

Crazy Horse planned for Saturday night and the weather forecast is warm and sunny…could one ask for more? πŸ™‚

Upmann 2’s…yumster!

…sadly another delay in the launch of the new regional edition Por Larranaga Magnificos.

Now pushed back to 1st November but I do promise they will be worth the wait.

Hoping to smoke a Magnificos with Simon Chase of Hunters and Frankau when he comes to my office in the next few days to have a look at some of my vintage Havanas as I hope to assist in a small way in the choice of the next regional edition for the UK market.

To dull my sadness over this latest delay I zipped over to my La Casa del Habano in Hamburg to smoke some fantastic 2007 H Upmann no.2’s ( red band now) and it was not a let down.Best blending in years for this cigar…smoked 3 back to back whilst herfing with my partner Christoph, smoking buddy Zaff,Trent and Brian from Canada and a few of our local regular lunchtime smokers.

Unlike the UK….Germany and Hamburg in particular is very cigar friendly πŸ™‚

The cigars were complimented with some splendid Edmundo Dantes 15 year old Cuban rum ( only 3000 bottles made ….2 less available now!) highly recommended πŸ™‚

Peaceful puffing πŸ™‚
