Hunters & Frankau Summer Cigar Party…yes it was :-)

Well done Hunters and Frankau for putting on an even better Cigar Party than last year πŸ™‚ The weather was amazing, sunny and warm, rock on global warming πŸ˜‰

Over 300 avid cigar aficionados enjoyed the soon to be launched H Upmann Magnum 50 and Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure Especial accompanied with copious quantities of Champagne and Mojitos whilst enjoying some excellent Cuban music from the band.

Spotted a few celebs including David Soul (Don’t give up on us baby!) and Jimmy Saville ( Jim’ll fix it!) and many of our best cigar merchants including Edward Sahakian (Davidoff), Desmond Sautter, The boys from JJ Fox to name a few.

Well done to Camille ,our competition prize draw winner who seemed to be enjoying many Mojitos and cigars… He yells me the custom rolled torp he smoked was fabulous:-)

The event should get some good Cigar trade coverage in the Press as I saw Colin from European Cigar Cult Journal puffing on a Hoyo ( Can’t miss him as he’s 7 foot tall!)

Mishie will put photos of the event on the website in the next 24 hours.

Congratulations to our other Michele from our Liverpool cigar store on her wedding yesterday

Have to run… off to lunch at Lords cricket ground for the annual event by the Association of Independent Tobacco Specialists:-)

Hunters & Frankau Summer Cigar Party

Greetings from sunny and hot London where we are looking forward to Hunters and Frankau’s Summer Cigar Party this evening at  Carlton House Terrace Gardens.

We will be smoking the “new” Hoyo Epicure Especial and H Upmann Magnum 50 and if they are as good as the edicion limitada we are in for a pleasant evening.

We hope to have these new Havanas available in singles, samplers and full boxes very soon at prices to please.

It’s a bit of a mega non stop herfing week for C.Gars having had an office herf yesterday with Tyler and Kirk from he US as well as my dear friend Naka from Japan. We sampled Havana Club Anejo especial,7 year old and 15 year old rum as well as Vigia and paired them up with the fabulous RamΓ³n Allones Belicosos ( exclusive to the UK market)

Tomorrow we have a lunch at Lords cricket ground for the AITS ( association of independent tobacco specialists)

Partagas Serie D No. 1 Limited Edition Maduro

Partagas Serie D No.1 Limited Edition Maduro…. what a smoke:-)

I think the UK may be the last country in the world to have a few boxes of these delightful cigars but stock is dwindling fast (I think we sold around 20 boxes last week alone!)

There seems to be quite a buying frenzy for this cigar now  and no doubt this will be another example of clients kicking themselves when they are sold out….and me telling them “sorry but they have been available for almost 4 years!”

6 3/8 inches in length and 50 ring gauge and now matured to perfection…. all wrapped up in a dark oily maduro wrapper, full flavour, full bodied, well constructed and a complex smoke… who could ask for more?

Whisky and Cigars …what a week :-)

Great weather over the last two days but not in London so I decided to zoom around our retail stores seeking hotter climates which I am pleased to report I did….20C + on Wednesday and Thursday and glorious sunshine in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Chester and wow the good weather certainly brings out the cigar smokers πŸ™‚

I can’t remember seeing my cigars stores so busy selling Havanas in quite some time!

Obviously I had to sample some of our own brand whisky and can thoroughly recommend <hic> http://www.whisky-cigars.co.uk/allt-bhainne-1992-70cl-p-1975.html  Allt a Bhainne ( don’t ask me how to pronounce it !) is the most delicious libation with a Bolivar Belicosos ….both thoroughly tested in Edinburgh followed by a dram of http://www.whisky-cigars.co.uk/braes-glenlivet-years-70cl-p-1626.html Braes of Glenlivet in my Glasgow cigar and whisky shop where I bumped into Steve McGinty who was smoking a Partagas short. Steve is the author of the excellent bookChurchills Cigar http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/churchills-cigar-p-4582.html

In my Liverpool outpost it was good to see our revamped walk in humidor fully stocked up with delicious Havanas and testing a Partagas P2 I can confirm the humidor now works perfectly:-) Congratulations to Michelle from Turmeaus Liverpool on her forthcoming wedding. Turmeaus still blends some incredible pipe tobacco that you won’t find anywhere else in the UK,not sure anyone else in blending their own mixes in the UK anymore sadly.

Chester was buzzing in the sunshine and Watergate street was packed..and so was my cigar store which has one of the largest selection of Havana for many miles around in their massive walk in humidor. I even spotted some original Partagas piramides, Hoyo piramides, Monte C and Partagas SD1’s there, always lovely to find some goodies stashed away πŸ™‚

Have a great weekend and peaceful puffing πŸ™‚
